October 2018

Sport science is the study of how human muscles and other bodily systems work, develop, and interact with each other in the context of sport and human performance. This broad field includes studies in anatomy, motor learning, human performance, sport psychology, motor development, health and wellness, and biomechanics.

Strict categorizing of programs in sports science can be a challenge. It largely depends on the emphasis of the individual program and coursework available to the student. Sport science programs are found in areas like pre-med, kinesiology, exercise science, and human performance. Many students choose to major in an area of sport science as a stepping stone for graduate studies in physical or occupational therapy. For others, certification as a personal training or strength and conditioning professional are the goals. Students interested in sport science have hundreds of program options available. We have created this list of our top 50 campus based sport science bachelor’s degree programs to give you an idea of the best programs out there.

Methodology

To identify the top 50 best sport science bachelor’s, we started with a search on College Navigator to find out which schools offered these programs.
