Located in Arkansas, John Brown University was founded by a Christian evangelist and his family in the early 1900s. First named the Southwestern Collegiate Institute, the family built the university from the ground up on their property. Eventually renamed to John Brown University, the school would start out with only 70 students and ten professors when it opened. The curriculum requirements for each specialization differ slightly, but each specialization does offer students the unique chance to dissect a human cadaver. JBU’s kinesiology program is one of only two in the entire state of Arkansas where students get to gain valuable experience through cadaver dissection. A small sampling of the available careers for graduates include Recreation Director, Sports Camp Coach, or Activities Director. Graduates may also find careers as a Park Manager, Fitness Program Coordinator, or Sports Administrator.

John Brown University describes its kinesiology program as one that requires rigorous academic study, as well as mastery of practical, hands-on experience.
