University of Minnesota – Twin Cities Accreditation Details

The University of Minnesota maintains accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. They have maintained this accreditation since 1913. Many of the University’s programs and colleges maintain separate accreditations through nationally recognized entities. University of Minnesota – Twin Cities Application Requirements

Students who are interested in applying to the University of Minnesota –Twin Cities and to the College of Education and Human Development, specifically, must follow the directions listed on the website. Those who are interested in applying as an incoming undergraduate student must submit the following information for consideration:

• A completed online application
• A copy of official high school transcripts
• ACT or SAT test scores
• A $55 non-refundable application fee

There is a fee waiver available for interested students. Students who are interested in learning more about eligibility requirements must refer to the University’s website. Within two weeks of submitting an application for consideration, students will receive an email confirming receipt of their information. Within a four week time frame, students will be notified if any information is missing. Once a completed application is received, it will be reviewed by the admissions department and students will be notified accordingly. Students who apply for early admission will be notified by January 31st and students who applied by the regular deadline will be notified by March 31st. All applications are due by December 15th for fall admission into the College of Education and Human Development. Applications received after December 15th are considered on a case by case basis where space is available.

Students who are interested in applying for one of the University’s Master’s or Doctoral programs must submit the following for consideration:

• Official University transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that were attended
• GRE test scores
• Letters of recommendation

Students need to check with their prospective programs for specific admissions information. All programs have different requirements and deadlines that students must abide by for consideration.

Tuition and Financial Aid

For Minnesota residents, the estimated cost of undergraduate attendance for the 2016-2017 academic years is $14,186. The cost for students from North Dakota, South Dakota, Manitoba and Wisconsin is also $14,186 for the year. The tuition rate for undergraduate, non-resident students is $24,340 per year.

The cost breaks down even further. For undergraduate students who are residents of Minnesota, the cost of tuition, per credit, is $470.77. For non-residents, the cost is $794.62 per credit. Those taking 13 or more credits are charged a flat rate of $6,120.00 and $10,330.00 for resident and non-residents, respectively. The cost of tuition does not include all associated University fees, campus fees, textbooks and other materials.

The tuition rate for graduate students who are residents of Minnesota is $7,922.00 for “full-time” status, or 6-14 credit hours. Tuition for part time students who are residents of Minnesota is $1,320.34 per credit hour. Non-residents are expected to pay $2,042.34 and $12,254.00 for part time and full time status, respectively. Any additional credits (over 14) cost $1,320.34 for residents and $2,042.34 for non-residents.

Financial aid is available for students seeking monetary assistance with the cost of attendance. There are a number of scholarships, federal loan programs and federal grants that students may apply for to cover the cost of tuition.
