The College of Education and Human Services at Cleveland State University is engaged in many new initiatives that make them stand out among other business schools. One area is the opening of a pre-Kindergarten to grade 12 Baccalaureate school on campus in partnership with Cleveland Metropolitan School District providing students with additional hands-on learning while also building a sense of community. There are currently over 2,200 students enrolled at the college which offers 39 different degree programs.

Health and Human Performance (HHP) Career Opportunities – Program

The Sport Management undergraduate degree at the College of Education and Human Services at Cleveland State University provides students with a strong background in both sports and business. Students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain positions in coaching, team building, adventure planning, sport tourism and other exciting positions related to sports and recreation. Students develop skills in sport mechanics, accounting, marketing, management, economics, physiology and psychosocial aspects of sport. Students are exposed to the many opportunities available in the sports industry. They begin their studies with Foundations of Sport, Exercise and Physical Education, continuing their studies that allow them to build a comprehensive ePortfolio. This ePortfolio includes a variety of media, styles and strategies that demonstrate the competencies they have achieved. Students must maintain a 2.5 overall grade point average in order to take any course at level 300 or above. Students must complete 30 hours of course work with a “C” or better in order to be admitted in the program. In addition to general education credits, the program requires between 70 and 81 semester hours of professional and major field coursework.

The graduate Sport Management program provides students with a strong background in both business and sport. Students develop a strong background in topics that allow them to be leaders in a growing industry. In order to apply for the program, students must have a bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum GPA of 2.75. Courses required for the program include:
