The 120-credit program is chaired by Mr. Richard T. Foley with a 17:1 student-faculty ratio for interactive, interdisciplinary study on athletics. Undergrads will gather important leadership traits like persistence while mastering courses in sports marketing, facility management, sports law, public relations, budgeting, and more. Picking a supportive minor, such as Business Administration or Accounting, is mandatory. Those maintaining a 3.4 GPA or better can join the Honors Program.

Hands-on training is emphasized in Alderson Broaddus University’s Sport Management (BA), especially at the on-campus Rex Pyles Arena, Multi-Sport Performance Stadium, and Hamer Campus Center. About Alderson Broaddus University

Alderson Broaddus University was initially established in 1871 by Baptist ministers and named to honor the Civil War’s revered Rev. William Francis Ferguson Broaddus. By 1926, financial hardship caused the college to merge with Alderson Academy, which honored the lay work of Emma C. Alderson. Alderson Broaddus made history in 1945 by forming West Virginia’s first radiography program. Endowed for $17.7 million, ABU now educates 1,100 Battlers as a private, nonprofit liberal arts school of the American Baptist Churches USA. Alderson Broaddus University Accreditation Details

Placed on probation in June 2017, Alderson Broaddus University holds regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA). Led by president James Barry, ABU is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, West Virginia Department of Education, and Council of Independent Colleges (CIC). Programmatic approvals are also extended by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).

Getting into Alderson Broaddus University for the Sport Management (BA) Major can be tricky with the “selective” admission rate of 41 percent.
